Who: The World Affairs Council of Connecticut, the MetroHartford Alliance, and the Connecticut Economic Resource Center, Inc. are hosting a reception for the Ambassador of Hungary to the USA, Dr. Laszlo Szabo, former pharmaceutical executive, and his Science and Technology Attache to meet with business and community leaders of Connecticut.
Where: World Affairs Council, 1049 Asylum Ave, Hartford CT
When: Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Why/Purpose: The networking event provides the opportunity for Hungarian businesses to explore opportunities in Connecticut, as well as for Connecticut businesses to explore opportunities in Hungary. Both locations share commonalities with a highly educated workforce, excellent universities, and technical, high-skill industries, with access to larger markets (Boston/New York and Germany/Western Europe). Hungary is an innovative leader particularly in the life sciences and automotive industries.
“Hungary today is seeking international partnerships at the state level in the areas of education, innovation and business generally,” said Chris Ball, Honorary Hungarian Consul for Connecticut. “We welcome the Ambassador and his team to build direct, tangible connections, promote Hungarian-US relations and culture, and develop his term in the USA.”
The visit will also include visits with the Department of Economic and Community Development, Jackson Labs, Quinnipiac University’s Central European Institute, Murtha Cullina LLP, CEENET and American Seal and Engineering (to explore launching a hub or incubator in Connecticut for innovative Hungarian companies).
