The Connecticut Economic Resource Center, Inc. (CERC), the state’s leading nonprofit economic development firm, announces the election of new board member Bart Kollen, Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development.
In his role at DECD, Kollen focuses on efforts to attract businesses to Connecticut and retain companies in the state – including regular collaboration with CERC to support these activities. A resident of West Hartford and native of the Netherlands, he has had previous positions with ING (now known as Voya) and the National Association of Manufacturers, and holds a Master’s in Public Administration.
“We welcome Bart to the CERC board and look forward to working with him in his new capacity to help make Connecticut a more competitive business environment,” said Robert Santy, President and CEO of CERC.
In addition to Kollen, the CERC board also re-elected the following executive board members: Shelly Saczynski of UIL Holdings Corporation as chair; Greg Therrien of UIL Holdings Corporation (representing Connecticut Natural Gas) as Treasurer; and Bill Vallée of the State of Connecticut Office of Consumer Counsel as Secretary.
