The Connecticut Insurance Department (CID) is celebrating the 10th year of producing the annual Consumer Report Card on Health Insurance Carriers in Connecticut. Produced every October, this report is designed to help health insurance consumers in Connecticut make more informed decisions about the types of insurance they purchase and the insurance companies they purchase coverage from. The Connecticut General Assembly mandated the compilation and distribution of the Consumer Report Card to facilitate informed “consumer comparison across organizations.”
CID originally approached CERC in 2016 to create a fresh look for the legislatively mandated report, and recently provided an update to the award-winning design. CERC analyzed the collected survey data to inform the report, and provided content in a user-friendly format that utilized graphics, pie charts and other helpful visuals to tell a compelling story, while meeting statutory mandates. In addition, CERC project managed the process from data analysis to content design and printing.
Initially a few years ago, CERC worked with CID to create and launch a statewide campaign aimed at Connecticut insurance policyholders and citizens to raise awareness of the many resources and easy-to-use services the agency offers. CERC's research department did pre- and post-campaign research to gauge the awareness levels. Using the tagline of “Assistance, advice, and advocacy for the people of Connecticut,” the creative included TV commercials, bus advertising, social media and PR – and two of the commercials were recognized with awards from the Advertising Club of Connecticut.
