Celebrating Economic Development
Posted on by Kristi Sullivan
WOW! Our first official Connecticut Economic Development Day celebrated last week was an outstanding success! Thank you to our partner organizations who participated and the many visitors (including legislators and staff) who stopped by the State Legislative Office Building in Hartford on Wednesday, May 8.
The day-long event showcased 11 of the state’s leading business and economic development organizations that work closely with businesses and municipalities -- each had a table with informational displays and staff experts. They included CERC, the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), Connecticut Economic Development Association (CEDAS), Connecticut Main Street Center, Council of Small Towns (COST), CT Next, CT Small Business Administration and CT Small Business Development Center, as well as the University of Hartford’s Entrepreneurial Center & Women's Business Center, Eversource, and UI.
#EDCT2019 kicked off with CEDAS hosting a breakfast reception to launch their new Best Practices Program. The day’s activities coincided with the International Economic Development Council (IEDC)’s Economic Development Week and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)’s National Small Business Week - which were marked by a week-long schedule of events and programs highlighting the work underway throughout Connecticut.
During the week, CERC also released ten new CERCONOMY podcast episodes featuring our key partners, and hosted two webinars related to business start-up and creation. You can catch the replays online anytime - and check out our new video library featuring business assistance resources and information. We had such great success that we plan to do it again in 2020!
