The towns of East Hampton and Ellington recently joined CERC SiteFinder, Connecticut's most comprehensive online database of available commercial real estate, including industrial, retail, office, investment and specialty sites. SiteFinder is a first stop for Connecticut brokers, economic developers and others searching for available real estate, and provides an opportunity for local towns to promote their properties online and increase their reach in attracting businesses to the area.
Managed by the Connecticut Economic Resource Center, Inc. (CERC), SiteFinder is a nationally marketed web site (www.CTSiteFinder.com), which has served as a key tool to assist developers and brokers on a daily basis, since its inception in 1997. Currently, thousands of searches are conducted each month by brokers and developers looking for sites in Connecticut.
Membership allows towns to promote properties to nearly 100 commercial brokerage firms and hundreds of brokers in the state with automatic linkage to national online listing services. Each SiteFinder listing contains multiple photos and a profile of the site or facility, including location, lease or cost information, access and other data.
"SiteFinder is an important economic development tool for municipalities allowing them to be competitive on a worldwide level. In collaboration with other resources such as E.D.D.I., (an online database for Connecticut and Western Massachusetts and its metro areas, counties and towns) site selectors have the data they need at their fingertips to aid them in the selection process," said Robert Santy, CERC's president and CEO.
CERC's Director of Real Estate Melissa Pasquale added, "It's important for towns to know that this resource is available to them. Most businesses do their preliminary location search on the web, so, if a town's sites aren't listed, they may not be considered in the screening phase."
