The Connecticut Economic Resource Center, Inc. has been recognized for excellence in economic development marketing in the 2007 Northeastern Economic Development Association (NEDA) Literature and Promotions Competition. CERC, which provides comprehensive marketing services to enhance economic development initiatives for local, regional, state and utility entities, garnered several awards for both internal and external projects. The awards were presented at NEDA's annual conference to honor organizations that utilize "best marketing practices" and effective communications work.
This year, CERC's enewsletter received a "superior" ranking and won "best in class" in the newsletter category. CERC's 2006 Benchmarking Report earned an "excellent" and the CERC SiteFinder® Memento received a "superior", also winning the category's "best in class." The organization also was bestowed an "excellent" for the design of materials for the Team Connecticut Rally, an annual economic development event, and for trade show graphics which promoted the state's aerospace industry at the Paris Air Show. Other pieces created for CERC's clients - including a brochure promoting InternHere.com, a new website for the Connecticut Licensing Center and Smart Start, and marketing materials for the Department of Economic and Community Development - also were recognized.
"CERC has been involved in every state marketing campaign since its inception, and we continue to support effective strategies that promote our state, regions and municipalities, as well as the many programs that strive to keep Connecticut competitive," said Robert Santy, CERC President and CEO. "We are pleased to be recognized by our peers for our marketing efforts."
Entries were judged by a panel of economic development and marketing professionals using a point rating system based on: design and layout, clarity of message, production quality, functionality and overall creativity and impact. Entries were submitted from economic development professionals in the 11 Northeastern states, and this year, according to NEDA officials, well over 100 entries were considered.
