CERC Receives Industry Recognition for Promotional Activities

10/24/2006

The Northeastern Economic Developers Associaton (NEDA) recently announced the results of the 2006 Literature and Promotions Competition conducted to recognize economic development organizations that utilize "best marketing practices."  CERC emerged with high marks for its trade show material, web site and other promotional activities.

Entries in the NEDA competition can receive a score of "Merit," "Excellent," or "Superior." CERC received a "Superior" mark and "Best in Class" for the update of its own web site, which offers the same quality marketing services and economic development resources, but is now organized in an easy-to-navigate format.  CERC also received a "Superior" score for its redesign of the Connecticut Development Authority's (CDA) collateral materials and web site created to promote CDA's financing options for Connecticut businesses.

The judges were impressed by CERC's "Excellent" Connecticut trade show graphics designed to promote Connecticut's supportive business environment to site selectors.  CERC also received a score of "Excellent" for their 2005 Benchmarking Connecticut's Economy report created by their in-house research staff.  The report compares Connecticut and the 50 states in terms of competitiveness, innovation and the available knowledge economy.

Economic development professionals across the 11 Northeastern states annually submit their best work against that of colleagues in categories ranging from general purpose marketing to targeted industries strategies to Internet web sites.  NEDA recognizes excellence in each category, as determined by an outside panel of marketing experts who serve as judges.

NEDA consists of more than 500 professional economic developers, appointed and volunteer economic development officials, and others committed to sound economic development practice in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington DC.  NEDA provides professional development education, publishes information about best professional practices, and supports the pursuit of individual economic development education throughout the Northeast.

CERC is a nonprofit company specializing in economic development and marketing for local, regional, state and utility economic development entities.  Funded by 10 of the state's utility and telecommunications companies in partnership with state government, CERC also markets the state as a competitive business location.  More information about CERC can be found at www.cerc.com.
