Site selectors and others who need data to make business location decisions can now easily research and learn about Middletown through E.D.D.I. (Economic Development Data and Information), a web site managed by the Connecticut Economic Resource Center, Inc. (CERC).
In addition to subscribing to CERC SiteFinder® to promote available commercial real estate, Middletown has enhanced their visibility and marketing efforts by providing localized knowledge within E.D.D.I., Connecticut's only online searchable database of economic and demographic information for the state, its metro areas, regions, and towns. Users can find hundreds of data points representing labor force, wages, leading employers, business growth and more, as well as maps, links and printable flyers. The data in E.D.D.I. goes beyond demographics and quantitative statistics with qualitative data such as business climate and quality of life.
E.D.D.I. is free to use and is based on a web database created by Location One Information System (LOIS) for other states. Since its launch in April 2005, Connecticut's E.D.D.I. has consistently ranked in LOIS's top four most visited states, with more than 7,500 visits in 2007.
Recent research shows that most businesses begin their search for new properties and new locations online. E.D.D.I was developed according to International Economic Development Council (IEDC) standards. CERC manages E.D.D.I. with funding provided by its utility partners and supports the efforts of Connecticut towns to utilize E.D.D.I. and keep its data current.
"The E.D.D.I. program has allowed us to build upon the visibility we receive from our SiteFinder membership and allows us to market our town to site selectors and businesses quickly and effectively," said William Warner, Director of Middletowns' Department of Planning and Conservation.
"In keeping with CERC's mission, to promote Connecticut as a competitive business location, we've made tools such as E.D.D.I. and SiteFinder available to our municipalities and regions to ensure that we meet the expectations of businesses and site selection consultants in an increasingly competitive, global environment," said CERC's President and CEO Robert Santy.
