Public Relations/Marketing Intern
What we need: A writer looking to work on a wide variety of projects, from web sites to brochures, who is not averse to also doing the not-so-glamorous support work. We want someone who is willing to attempt any task and to be creative in getting things done.
General info: Intern will ultimately report to the marketing director, reporting to the marketing specialists on specific projects. This is a fast-paced environment, so the intern shouldn't be afraid to ask questions, nor hesitate to give honest input into projects. We are located in Rocky Hill (15 minutes south of Hartford), so you will need transportation.
What you will gain: In addition to collegiate credit, you will gain invaluable marketing/public relations experience and a broader knowledge of employment opportunities and ways to gain contacts and experience in this field. You may acquire samples of work to add to your portfolio.
Potential tasks: Brainstorm concepts, plan events, write copy, research background information, make and handle phone calls, coordinate media mailings/faxing.
Computer skills: Must be proficient in Internet searching and familiar with Microsoft Word and Quark Express/Adobe PageMaker. PhotoShop and web site-design experience also helpful. (Note: We work on PCs rather than Macs.)
To apply: Submit a résumé and two writing samples (student newspaper articles, class papers, etc. - no poems or fictional writing, please) to Kristi Sullivan, CERC's marketing director, at CERC, 805 Brook Street, Building 4, Rocky Hill, CT, 06067, via e-mail or fax, 860-571-7150.
