10/21/2006
Connie Maffeo, the director of Connecticut's Business Response Center (BRC), received the designation of Economic Development Professional (EDP) at the recent Northeastern Economic Developers Association (NEDA) annual conference. Maffeo was among the first to receive the distinction since it was established in January 2006 by NEDA. The designation recognizes individuals in the economic development profession who use their experience and professional education to improve the local and regional economy.
Maffeo has directed the BRC, which is housed and managed by the Connecticut Economic Resource Center, since 1992 and is regarded for her exceptional customer service and knowledge about the programs and services available for business formation, expansion and relocation in Connecticut. She received her master's degree in guidance and counseling from Bowling Green State University and her bachelor's degree from Duquesne University, and is an active member of the Connecticut Economic Development Association (CEDAS) and NEDA. She is a resident of Niantic.
CERC President and CEO Marty Hunt congratulated Maffeo saying, "CERC and our associates have long regarded Connie as a valuable resource, and we are pleased that the professional community and NEDA have recognized her contribution to economic development in the state of Connecticut."
NEDA, formed in 1956 to promote economic and industrial development, is comprised of members from a wide variety of disciplines who facilitate economic development in Northeastern United States. For more information about NEDA, visit www.nedaonline.org.
