The Connecticut Economic Resource Center Inc. played a key role behind the scenes in the familiarization tour for site selection consultants that finished today in greater New Haven.  With a mission of marketing Connecticut as a competitive business location, CERC supported the tour by reaching out to consultants and key contacts and producing detailed information binders - from maps, to site specifications, to demographics - providing all of the information a consultant would need to make a location decision.

CERC is equipped to support efforts such as these, with an in-house GIS mapping department, their online SiteFinder database - the state's most comprehensive database of commercial and industrial properties - and business development experts, who maintain working relationships with site selection consultants.

"CERC was created to serve as an unbiased economic development clearinghouse with all of the tools needed to get things done quickly - which is crucial when working with site selection consultants - they know if they call on us, they'll get dependable information fast," said Robert Santy, president and CEO of CERC.

CERC's focus of attracting and retaining businesses in Connecticut is the backbone of the company's products and services - such as Connecticut's Business Response Center, the state's 1-800 number for businesses and E.D.D.I., a web site of local, regional and statewide data points representing labor force, wages, leading employers, business growth and more, allowing site selectors, researchers and others to access easy-to-find data and learn about our regional landscape.

CERC worked with sponsors The United Illuminating Company, The Regional Growth Partnership and the towns of Hamden, Milford, New Haven, North Haven, Orange and West Haven on the fam tour, which attracted site selectors from across the county to the greater New Haven region.
