CERC VP of Research Jeffrey Blodgett was recently appointed as one of the 21 members to the New England Public Policy Center's (NEPPC) advisory board by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.  Blodgett is the vice president of research at the Connecticut Economic Resource Center (CERC) in Rocky Hill.

The New England Public Policy Center has assembled the advisory board, which is comprised of the region's leading legislative staff, policy analysts, academics, and media members. The board's mission is to inform key constituents about the Center's research agenda and guide the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston's regional outreach and communications strategy.

"We believe that Blodgett will be a strong contributor to the group, particularly with his vast experience and expertise in research and economic development in Connecticut," said Robert Tannenwald, Director, NEPPC and Vice President, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

The advisory board will meet at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston this month and convene every February and September thereafter, with most members serving two-year terms. "I am honored to have been selected to participate in the development of new strategies for the New England region," said Blodgett. "I have always been a strong proponent in a regional approach to economic development issues and strategies. This type of approach will further the efforts of business and legislative leaders to institute change in our local and regional economy and ultimately make the greatest impact on growth in New England", he said.

As vice president of research at CERC, Blodgett is responsible for the company's business and economic research services. He has held a variety of research positions in both academia and government over the past 35 years, including affiliations with Yale University and the Connecticut Department of Education. Prior to joining CERC, Blodgett was the research director at the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development. He holds a master's degree in research design and statistical methods and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Applied Economic Development Research.

The New England Public Policy Center conducts objective research on regional public policy issues. It supports regional research projects, provides data on the region, host's public events and forums and builds a network of pubic policy analysts.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston established the NEPPC in January 2005. The Boston Fed has provided support to the public policy community of New England for decades.

Based in Rocky Hill, CERC is a nonprofit company funded by 10 of the state's utility and telecommunications companies in partnership with state government. With a mission of promoting Connecticut as a competitive business location, CERC specializes in economic development, research and marketing for local, regional, state and utility economic development entities.
