The Connecticut Economic Resource Center, Inc. (CERC) is providing Connecticut towns and regions with new access to business investors and site planners around the world who could be investing in Connecticut.  E.D.D.I., or Economic Development Data and Information (www.cerc.com/eddi), is an online searchable database, containing hundreds of data points representing labor force, wages, leading employers and business growth in Connecticut's towns and regions.  Previously available only to those towns and regions who subscribed to the service, E.D.D.I. is now available free of charge to all Connecticut communities, therefore providing an important resource at their disposal to market and promote their communities to the world.

Recent research shows that most businesses begin their search for new properties and new locations online. The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) worked with nationally recognized site selection professionals nationwide to develop guidelines for the type of information businesses needs to inform investment decisions; E.D.D.I was developed according to these IEDC standards.  CERC manages E.D.D.I. with funding provided by its utility partners and will support the efforts of Connecticut towns to utilize E.D.D.I. and keep its data current.

Using E.D.D.I., towns can easily upload online information for investors to make informed decisions about where to relocate or expand a business in Connecticut.  With a quick few keystrokes, site selectors and real estate executives can use E.D.D.I. to:

  • Narrowly search for municipal data about a town

  • Broadly search for regional data about a region

  • Thoroughly search for statewide data about the entire state

"Having in-depth, accurate data about our towns in a centralized location on the web is vital to our state's economic growth," said Robert Santy, president and CEO of CERC. "Coupled with our other resources including CERC SiteFinder®, a database of all available commercial and industrial properties in Connecticut, site selectors and their business clients have access to the information they need to make informed investment decisions."
