The Regional Growth Partnership (RGP), representing 15 towns in the New Haven region, has joined the E.D.D.I. (Economic Development Data and Information) network, an online searchable database of economic and demographic information for all of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts and its metro areas, regions, and towns. Site selectors and others who need data to make business location decisions can now research and learn about Connecticut's south central region easily and online.
CERC, with support from Connecticut Light and Power, Yankee Gas and other utility partners, launched E.D.D.I. last year to allow worldwide web users to have easy access to the information they need about our region. The E.D.D.I. data is compliant with IEDC (International Economic Development Council) standards, meaning that site selectors can be confident that the data they require when making location decisions can be found in E.D.D.I.
RGP joins the MetroHartford Alliance as two of the state's regional organizations that offer localized knowledge about their towns within E.D.D.I., which help users more accurately determine where a town sits within a region's geographic position.
"Having in-depth, accurate data about our towns in a central location on the web is vital to our region's economic vitality," said Robert Santy, president of RGP. "As people learn about the availability of this new online data, they will become more familiar with the quality our towns and be enticed to relocate or expand here."
RGP is a nonprofit public/private corporation with a primary mission to encourage cohesiveness between the public and private sectors in the development of policies and programs designed to make south central Connecticut more competitive in the global economy. The organization relies on voluntary cooperation among member municipalities and with the private and institutional leadership of the region.
The 15 RGP towns, which are within the South Central Regional Council of Governments, are: Bethany, Branford, East Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Milford, Meriden, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Wallingford, West Haven and Woodbridge.
The Connecticut Economic Resource Center (CERC) is a nonprofit company specializing in economic development and marketing for local, regional, state and utility economic development entities. Funded by 10 of the state's utility and telecommunications companies in partnership with state government, CERC also markets the state as a competitive business location.
